Keyword Research & Competitor Analysis
High-ROI keyword clusters, buyer-intent mapping, and content-gap analysis against named competitors, combining automated tools with human review for accuracy.
A keyword map you can actually publish against
Most keyword lists are a spreadsheet export with a volume column. This is different. We start from your commercial goals and build a keyword universe around what your potential customers actually search for, then organise it by search intent: learning, comparing options, finding a supplier or taking action.
Each intent requires a different kind of page. The map therefore tells you not only what to target, but what kind of content should target it.
We then compare the same search landscape against three to five competitors you name. The analysis identifies where they rank and you do not, where there is a realistic gap to close, and where the existing results are weak enough to present a genuine opportunity.
Terms are then grouped into topical clusters, with recommended pillar and supporting pages and an internal-link structure connecting them. Where relevant, we also identify SERP features and answer-focused search opportunities that affect the format a page needs to take.
The result is a working research document that can be handed directly to your content team, writer or another agency. You own the working files and can use them independently of HL Digital.
Who it's for
If you are about to commission a substantial run of articles, decide what those articles should target before committing the writing budget.
Ranking for the wrong search intent can bring visitors who were never likely to become customers. Intent mapping helps separate traffic from commercially useful demand.
A new country, language, product line or service category needs its own search landscape. Research can build that map even where you have little or no historical data.

What buyers often get wrong
A large keyword list is not automatically a better keyword map. A focused set of terms a business can realistically act on this quarter can be more valuable than hundreds of terms that nobody has the capacity to turn into pages.
The other common mistake is treating competitor analysis as a scoreboard. The useful question isn't simply “How do we beat this competitor?” It is “Where is there a commercially worthwhile gap we can realistically fill?”
Why HL Digital
Tools generate useful raw data, but they do not reliably determine whether a term is commercially relevant or whether several terms actually represent the same search intent. The research is reviewed and organised by a person.
The working keyword map is yours. You can sort it, filter it and hand it to your own team, writer or another supplier.
The output is not simply a list of keywords. It gives you prioritised opportunities, page recommendations and initial briefs so the next stage can begin immediately.
Limitations
Keyword research describes the search opportunity; it does not guarantee rankings, traffic or conversions. The eventual result depends on the quality of the content, technical implementation, competition, search behaviour and other factors outside the research itself.
The map also has a natural shelf life. Search behaviour, competitors, products and markets change, so a research project may need to be refreshed when the underlying conditions change materially.
